PAWS for HEALTH - Community Support Event

  • Paul's Place 1111 H Street Davis, CA, 95616 United States (map)

At Life of Kai, we embrace the One Health approach, which recognizes the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health. Through our Street Pets Initiative, we aim to ensure that pets of the unhoused receive the care they need, which in turn supports the well-being of their owners.

While we currently provide behavior services, leashes, and harnesses, our upcoming Paws for Health event will focus on donating coats and jackets to both pets and their guardians, as well as providing a warm Thanksgiving lunch. Keeping both pets and their people warm is one way we can support their health and well-being.

Our flyer for the event

Paws for Health event at Paul's Place was a heartwarming success. Despite the rain, community members arrived in waves, grateful for the pre-Thanksgiving turkey sandwiches and pumpkin pie provided by Life of Kai. A total of 100 sandwiches and pumpkin pie slices were distributed. A thoughtful community member donated gently used warm clothing, and the newly purchased heavy flannel shirts were especially popular. We also discovered that socks are highly sought after—so we are donating socks and hand warmers for Christmas! Additionally, 12 dog coats and jackets were given away, with more available on the first Saturday of each month at Paul's Place.
